The new Lochinvar Bar was opened in January 1963, at 589 Moss Road, Drumoyne, Glasgow. The address was later changed to Berryknowes Road.

Here, although taking second place to the magnificent lounge bar, the public bar was considered to be of such merit that it was chosen as the part of the premises in which to stage the opening ceremony. The premises were declared open by Captain Sir J. P. Younger, chairman of United Caledonian Breweries.

The Lochinvar was the enterprise of Mr & Mrs W Bennet, and to hansel its opening they were hosts to a large gathering of Trade and other guests.

On behalf of Mrs Bennet, who holds the licence, Mr H MacCalman, solicitor, welcomed the company, after which Mr M Armstrong, development director, United Caledonian Breweries, introduced Captain Younger.

In declaring the premises open, Captain Younger said he was glad the ceremony was taking place in the public bar, for this was well worthy of inspection. He praised the high standard incorporated in the building and remarked on the speed with which the project had been carried out. The building was erected in the space of four months. This, he said, was all the more creditable, considering that the site had presented various difficulties. Altogether, in what had been set that would not easily be surpassed.

Mr Bennet, on his own and his wife's behalf, expressed thanks to Captain Younger.

Mr Armstrong in his remarks, paid tribute to the contractors, to the architect, Mr Ian Blyth, and to Mr George Milne, the company's design manager.

Both the lounge and public bar had been elegantly designed and, being spacious, provide considerable seating accommodation. One of the features of the public bar was a splendid mural with its Lochinvar theme.
